I am more focused on dollar cost averaging into companies that have experienced a loss. I am going to take advantage of buying MAT VIAB and UL in order to get a lower cost basis. I dont see myself selling anything at this time. These companies seem pretty solid core investments and I hope to see some more gains for years to come.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00096005621734845090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2540640229572269214.post-23193771772143219302014-11-08T06:39:13.879-05:002014-11-08T06:39:13.879-05:00I am expecting the cc rewards to be taken away but...I am expecting the cc rewards to be taken away but I have not seen any articles relating to it. While it's great to track these figures I think the focus should be more on the dividend growth and dividends received. Your portfolio will see tremendous price fluctuations and may even see red from top to bottom. The question is will you sell anything or average down on your positions? The portfolio will be for the long term so I am not too concerned with the gains and losses for the month. However I am able to see which stocks I can dollar cost average into. I can also track the best and worst performers which is always good. If that's the case it makes very little sense to look at the gains and losses. I suppose looking at the numbers will tell you how well you're doing compared to the overall market. Then I totaled my gains with the dividends. And finally I added CC Rewards to the equation. So technically speaking my market value would be the $7347.28 with a cost basis of $7295. This is because I reinvest the dividends. With the CC Cash back rewards I use that to pay off the balance of the credit card from all these purchases. The reason I wanted to add the CC rewards is because that money is actually paying off the stock purchases I made. But this is not part of my market value. So to reiterate the real market value is $7347.28 as of OCT 31 2014. Thanks for pointing that out. Whereas the credit card rewards and the dividends are actual realized income. So as a means of determining value, you will be comparing existing cost basis to current fair market value? writing2realityhttp://www.writeyourownreality.comnoreply@blogger.com
